North BC, Canada Resorts, Lodges and Retreats provide accommodations and an opportunity to relax and enjoy the wilderness backcountry regions of Northern British Columbia. A resort, lodge and retreat, in most cases, combines accommodation with adventure and relaxation. Accommodations may be in the form of a guest room in a lodge or a cabin in the woods.

Most of the accommodations are located in the backcountry forests and mountains next door to nature. Some are situated closer to communities and require transportation to visit with nature. And others are located on islands off the coastline of British Columbia on the Pacific Ocean.

Some resorts are commercial resorts. These resorts are not as connected to the wilderness but do provide access to tour and guiding companies for backcountry adventures. Commercial resorts are ideal for business and for quick access to community services.

Most accommodations are adventure driven. Many of the wilderness resorts and lodges specialize in one or more adventures. Some resort accommodations operate seasonally while others operate year round.

Some of the tours and guides include backpacking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, mountaineering and hunting in the summer months... and snowmobiling, cross country skiing, backcountry skiing, heli skiing, dog sledding and ice fishing in the winter months.

The seasons and the location play a large part when selecting the mode of transportation used to access a resort or lodge. Some accommodations are easily reached from highways while others are remotely accessed via gravel roads, hiking trails, boats, helicopters, float planes and bush planes.
