Bike Park is a newer attraction in the Burns Lake
region that is causing a stir among mountain bikers in British
Columbia, Canada. The progression drops, wall riders, boardwalk
trails, line jumps and single track routes keep the mountain bikers
challenged and busy.
The bike park is an ongoing project that is scheduled
to include over 100 kilometres of xc trails, a skills park and
a network of downhill and freeride routes down the mountain. The
mountain bike park is located on Boer Mountain and the cross country
biking trails connect to the Kager Lake Trail
system. A trail network that leads to 3 different lakes.
The mountain bike park is an adventure destination
supported by many associations operating in the local community
of Burns Lake. Much of the design of the park is the brain child
of Norco Pro Rider Jay Hoots.
With the efforts of the local mountain bike enthusiasts
and with the continued support from the community the completed
trail network will include a connector trail from the park to
a perimeter trail and to other parts of Burns Lake.
With great aspirations of becoming a world class
mountain biking destination, there are over 15 kilometres of intermediate
and expert trails exploring the mountain. Probably the most recognized
downhill route is the Beaver Slide. It is an expert route used
by mountain bikers that includes 20 jumps, 5 drops, wall rides
and some boardwalk risers.
The skills park, also referred as "The Playground",
is a mixture of dirt jump lines, wooden boardwalk risers, a pump
track, some drop progressions, a wall ride, and a four-cross course.
Most of the trails start and end near the skills park. At the
entrance of the park is a trail map.
The collection of downhill and freeride routes
offer up a mixed bag of mud, single track, boardwalk and air time.
Some of the trails include things like table-tops, hips, step
ups, and step downs.
