| Buck
Creek Dyke Trail: The community
walking trail connects north and south Houston, BC together. The
hiking route takes advantage of the local waterways that flow
through the community by following Buck Creek most of the way
and the mighty Bulkley River for some of the way.
The
walking and biking route are part of a series of paths that cover
over 7 kms of trails wandering the shores of the two waterways.
The trail system mostly follows a gravel path from one park to
another. Most of the route is a level easy-grade hiking trail
suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
The
southern trailhead to the Buck Creek Trail begins in Anderson
Park. The northern trailhead is located in Northside Park or at
the end of Nadina Avenue near the Bulkley River. Along the route
are some interpretive signs with information on the wildlife and
the local river environment.
The Buck Creek Trail follows
a dyke much of the way. A raised platform walking path with views
of rapids, currents and wildlife. Being that the route is a connector
trail there are many walkers, joggers and bikers that use the
trail to get from point A to point B within the community.

How
to get to the
Buck Creek Trail: The walking route has many access
points throughout the community. The trailhead to the Buck Creek
Trail in the south of Houston, BC is located in Alexander Park
at the end of Copeland Street. The northern trailhead is located
in Northside Park or at the end of Nadina Ave.
