Nation Carving Shed, Prince Rupert,
BC : The village of Prince Rupert, B.C. enjoys
one of the finest displays in British Columbia, Canada of Totem
Poles scattered throughout the community. Makes sense, since the
area is a popular home to many First Nation Haida artists.
Within the community of Prince Rupert there is
a central gathering place - a Carving Shed -
where First Nation artists meet to share carving skills, work
on carving projects and to reflect on the long and storied history
of the First Nation Haida people.
When visiting the modest Carving Shed
visitors will be able to see, first hand, some of the finest,
most skilled carvers living in northern British Columbia, Canada
at work. First nation carvers create their art work using cedar
trees, copper, argillite, silver and gold.

How to
Get to First
Nation Carving Shed : Travel
towards the hub of Prince Rupert along Highway
16 (Yellowhead Hwy) towards the waterfront. The hwy
turns into McBride St. Continue straight down McBride and take
a right on 1st Avenue. On your right is the Sunken
Gardens and on your left is the Northern
BC Museum. The Craving Shed is hidden in the trees
near the gardens.
