of Northern BC, Prince Rupert: A very
extensive collection of the vast history and culture of the First
Nation people is on display at the Museum of Northern
BC in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada.
The exhibits educate you with detailed descriptions
and some with audio commentary. All are proudly displayed in a
Coastal Northwest First Nation longhouse museum. The aisles are
lined with archeological artifacts like tools, weapons and clothing...
and many amazing sculptures of art including carvings, masks and
jewelry.
Self guided and guided tours are available to the
public. A great opportunity to learn the history of the local
people while viewing exhibits dating back to the first ice age.
After your tour, there is a gift shop onsite with First Nation
art work available for purchase. It is worth a look!
Every year the Museum of Northern BC
holds events for the public to attend. An opportunity to be part
of the deep history and culture of the northern British Columbia,
Canada First Nation people. In the summer there are events like
the Tsimshian Mask Dancers and in the winter, the ceremonial Winter
Feast with the Tsimshian First Nation people.

How to
Get to Museum
of Northern BC: Travel
towards the hub of Prince Rupert along Highway
16 (Yellowhead Hwy) towards the waterfront. The hwy
turns into McBride St. Continue straight down McBride and take
a right on 1st Avenue. On your right is the Sunken
Gardens and on your left is the Northern
BC Museum.
