| Downhill Skiing
& Snowboarding in North BC: The mountains of the
Northern BC region number in the hundreds. In the winter months
after the snow has fallen a few of the mountains provide excellent
powder skiing and snowboarding opportunities.
A select few mountain communities in North BC are
located near ski resorts. The local ski resort destinations in
the winter include a variety of ski runs, chair lifts and cross
country ski routes. In some cases the upper portion of the mountain
welcomes skiers and snowboarders and the bottom portion of the
mountain entertains cross country skiers.
The ski hills vary in size. Some of the ski hills
have lodges, accommodations and a small village at their base
while others keep it simple. The resorts in the north all provide
lessons, equipment, a lodge, first aid and refreshments.
Some of the main ski hills in the north include
Hudson Mountain near Smithers,
BC, Murray Ridge near Fort

George and Mackenzie. Each snow hill provides downhill skiing
and snowboarding runs with Powder King being the largest hill
