Wildlife Tours in North BC: The wilderness environment throughout the Northern British Columbia region is rugged and remote creating an ideal setting for wildlife viewing. The many mountain ranges, the far reaching forests, the thousands of lakes and rivers provide the shelter and food for many species of wildlife. A wilderness environment unspoiled by human hands and best viewed from a distance.

Wildlife tours start as soon as you begin driving the highways and backcountry gravel roads in North BC. Often, on trips traveling between communities there is an opportunity to view wildlife. Keep an eye open when traveling from the vehicle - watch the meadows, the forests, the mountains and many times wildlife can be spotted. When driving the highways of BC if you come across a bunch of vehicles pulled over in the middle of nowhere it is usually because someone spotted some wildlife.

The North BC region is very mountainous surrounded by the looming Coastal Mountains to the west, the Rocky Mountains to the east and the Cariboo Mountains to the south. The numerous bogs, estuaries and wetlands in the forested valleys below these mountain ranges is home to many species of wildlife including moose, mountain goats, Bald Eagles, wolves, cougars, black bears, wolves, and Grizzly Bears.

There are large parks in the North BC region that have been set aside for the protection and resurrection of some of the local wildlife. These parks are now home to some of British Columbia's endangered species like the Grizzly Bear in the Khutzeymateen/K'tzim-a-Deen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary near Terrace, BC. Because of the many large parks located in North BC many visitors exploring during a self guided walk, hike or wilderness backpacking adventure will encounter wildlife.

Tour groups in the area offer wildlife tours to various parts of the mountainous region. Most tours include an interpretive guide and transportation in the form of a boat, float plane, or off-road vehicle.
